August and the big 4-0!!

On a personal note the major milestone for me this month was my 40th birthday...less said about that the better.

Work wise lots has been happening. At the beginning of the month I was called for my first session on drums - we recorded at 2fly studios in Sheffield and it was a real buzz to hear my drums recorded well in a nice room.
Elsewhere I did the last bits of filming for 'Lens' - the film involves puppetry and is going to be great to compose for.
Another commision for Mask has come in so all in things are busy.

Work in July

I continue to do work for Mask - this month saw another peice for Mamas & Papas. Elsewhere the filming for 'Lens' went really well - I now can't wait to see the edits and start creating the scores.
Also this month I did some some location recording for the Young Writers in Residence on the I love West Leeds Festival - this involved recording some interviews and also the writers performances on the closing day of the festival. The recordings will be available on the Festival website.

June Work

The most exciting aspect of this month proffesionally has been more advert work for Mask Creative - this month I have created two more peices - one for Mamas & Papas and another for Mountain Biking Company 'Mountain Mayhem' and feel i am building up a good relationship with my employer.
Elsewhere we are planning the filming stage of 'Life Thru A lens' - I am really looking forward to seeing the results of all our hard work on film and also composing the scores for what will be a very diverse body of work.

May

This month has been very busy with one thing and another. Two events have dominated my work this month. The first has been that the first performance of 'Alice' opens at the end of the month so tensions are running high at College but I feel confident that we are well prepared and can't wait to see it performed with the full band and in costume - I'm wearing top hat and tails so that should be fun if it really hot...
Elsewhere the 'Life Thru a Lens' continues to go well with good results.

April Work

During this month I have been pretty busy with a combination of work. My teaching work is coming along well and most of the content for Alice in Wonderland is complete and the students continue to do great work. Elsewhere at Leeds City College I have been working on a production of Broadway Musical 'I Love You You're Perfect, Now Change' - I'm working with the students in rehearsal on the songs and will be playing Guitar and Bass for the performance (not at the same time i might add!!)

March Work

At the beginning of March I was called in at the last minute to create sound design for a Northern Creative Theatre who were doing a slot in the Leeds University Theatre Festival at Stage@Leeds a few weeks ago. The performance involved three short pieces ; the most enjoyable from a sound perspective involved the actors not saying any dialogue live. All the dialogue was cued from recordings I had made and edited in rehearsal.

Busiest February ever!

This month it was finalized that I was going to facilitate the writing and production of all the Sound Design and Musical content for Leeds City College's summer production of Alice in Wonderland which will be performed at Castle Howard. On a personal note I was also engaged as Musical Director on the show and rehearsals are going very well towards the first deadline at Easter.

A Serious Business

I have just completed the score for "A Serious Business" which you can see on my Film Showreel. The composition required a quick turnaround and in my opinion was a great success.
